On 25 February 2010, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin bin Yassin, then Deputy Prime Minister launched the Polytechnic Transformation Path which aims to build new polytechnic efforts in developing human resources to meet the needs of innovative and creative innovative New Economic Model. Among the agendas outlined in the planned direction are polytechnic empowerment towards becoming a comparable choice of universities among qualified candidates, development of niche areas based on the strengths of each polytechnic, the strengthening of polytechnic citizens with the knowledge and skills high, and image building and brilliant work culture.

 

Based on this direction, the Center of Technology (COT) was established in the field of thrust with the hope of exploring and leading the field of research and innovation as well as the use, transfer and enhancement of technology with the cooperation and outsourcing of outsiders in the relevant fields.

History of the establishment of the Center of Technology (COT), Johor Bahru Polytechnic was established early in line with the award of the Premier Polytechnic to this institution in February 2009. On 15 December 2011, this polytechnic officially adopted the name Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan after receiving the consent of Duli Yang Amat His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. With this award also, the Center of Technology (COT), Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan was converted to the Creative Design Center (CDeC). In line with its name and function, the center focuses on the creative design of Creative Design.
