The concept of COT polytechnics is adapted from the concept of Center of Excellence (COE) developed in universities. For example at the National University of Malaysia, the Center of Excellence is defined as a center of knowledge and skills development from various fields to carry out original and pioneering research to provide knowledge leadership in the formulation of policy and technology development to society at the national and international levels. The center of excellence is in various forms namely Research Laboratories / Research Centers / Research Institutes / Service Centers.

​COT in polytechnics is also a center where science and technology in the field of thrust in polytechnics are used or applied through

• specialization services

• implementation of research and innovation

• improvement of teaching and learning excellence.

IMPLEMENTATION

 

Implementation in CDeC is based on Primary and Secondary elements outlined by the Department of Political Education (JPP).
